Today we had a playdate at home with two of Sophie's little friends. We did a couple of Easter crafts and then celebrated early because one of the little ones is turning 2 next week!
Happy Birthday!!
The ladies enjoying pizza lunch
Singing Happy Birthday!!
And best of all.... cake and ice cream!!

Every Thursday morning I take Sophie to a little dance class. It is held at a retirement home so the folks that live there come and watch the kids dance. Sophie loves when we get to the part where she swings her arms!
All of the kids kind of do their own thing - but they all have fun.

I took Sophie to a music program at the library this week. The woman who runs it is really great and lets them just play around with the instruments while she sings and plays her guitar. Sophie had a great time dancing around and using this drum.
We had Spaghetti for dinner and Sophie did a great job feeding herself!! She also liked drinking water out of a big girl cup that we got that has the characters from the 'Cars' movie that she loves.
Sophie gives 'Mater' a kiss!
We thought she did a great job feeding herself until we realized that half of it was in her lap!!
She decided that it was still good and ate the pasta right from her pants!!

This is Sophie at a friend's birthday party standing on the little blue line and listening to instructions! She looks so tiny compared to 4 year olds!!
This was the first party that Sophie seemed to understand what a 'birthday party' means. She sat at the little table with all of the other kids - and even got her own slice of cake!!
Dave and I just sat there watching her eat the cake - she was so adorable.
After the party we came home and she wanted to 'snuggle down' and rest for a few minutes. Dave asked her to "show me the worm" and she stuck out her tongue for him.
After Sophie's bath we read to her every night. This is daddy reading a book I got from a garage sale this weekend that neither one of us really likes! From the look of it, Sophie's not too into it either!

We took Sophie to a birthday party this past weekend that was held at a little gym. She had such a blast. She loved to hang and swing from the little monkey bars and then...
let go!!

Dave brought Sophie home a new set of markers for her dry erase board and she LOVES to draw and erase on it!!
I make her take her clothes off when she uses it because her aim is a little off sometimes, and she draws on herself!

David took this picture while he was babysitting the girls. Sophie loves to put blankets on and around Jolene.
Cousins!!
Do you want another blanket Jolene??
What a cutie on her 4 month birthday!

Yesterday I took Sophie to the Loudoun Farm Museum. This is Sophie sizing up the cow as she is deciding whether or not to try to milk it!
They have a life size fiberglass cow with very realistic looking udders that squirt water into a bucket when you squeeze them! It also moos when you touch it. Sophie was one of the few toddlers who would go near it!
Aunt Heather and Jolene are in town, so we have to run to the grocery store to get a few special things for them!
Harris Teeter is a grocery store in the next town over, and a couple of times I have taken her because of these cute little carts they have. If I only need a few things, I just give them to her and she (gently) chucks them into her cart.

Today Sophie had one of her best pals over for a playdate and they loved taking good care of their babies together.

Sophie's new favorite thing is to play dress up with her clothes. She put on this orange skirt over her play clothes and then walked in Daddy's shoes around the kitchen. The sticker on her forehead is the only one that remained after her nap - but at one point in the morning she had about 20 on her face and head. (she put them there!)
Sophie also loves to 'snuggle down' with Daddy on the couch and watch a good video - like 'Cars' or 'Robots'. They have started doing this together for about 1/2 hour before her bath in the evening. Sophie also loves when Daddy makes her a 'shake-shake' in the blender with ice, fruit & yogurt. Yum!

I took Sophie to the Loudoun Museum downtown yesterday
and she really liked cooking in their colonial times kitchen.

We played 'dress up' with some of the clothes, but the only thing she liked to wear was this hat!
She cleaned up before we left!
Today we went to the Air and Space Museum to look at the planes, and also to see a "BIG MOVIE" (that's what Sophie calls the Imax). She was scared a little bit at first by the darkness and loud noises, but as soon as the movie started she loved it. We saw a 40 minute show about the Wetlands in Louisiana and the effect of Hurricane Katrina on them. She loved watching the alligators swim.

This afternoon we took Sophie for her first haircut. We tried to coax her through it by letting her eat these little heart candies that she loves, but as you can see, she wanted nothing to do with it. I am amazed that the woman was able to cut her hair at all!

It snowed last week and we bundled Sophie up and took her outside.
Dave built a snowman that was sooo huge!
Sophie and Daddy!
For days after we took this picture when I asked her about the snowman we built she would always say "smiled!" She remembers sitting and smiling for this picture!

Sophie playing with the baby Aunt Bonnie and cousin Sam gave her for Christmas
Sophie loves presents!
Sophie didn't quite feel like posing for pictures on this morning...the day before she tripped in the living room and really bonked her head on the train table. That'll ruin any model's mood!
Lots of kisses!
We were getting out our jackets from the closet when Sophie saw the camera and wanted to play with it... so this is a picture I took of us while we were getting our shoes on ready to head to playgroup.

Sophie likes having her little friends over for playdates.

There's room for two in the crib too!
